Small Business Growth Awards

We have created the Trampolineman Small Business Growth Awards.

We were discussing one day the amount of help we now get from the web, when 10 years ago we would have had to pay an expensive advisor for expert advice. In a long discussion over a few drinks we started swapping sites we liked and help we had received over the years. After a while we decided there should be some recognition for these ‘unpaid advisors’ that had helped us develop and grow. So, we created the Small Business Growth Awards.

We created a small committee of businessmen who meet once a quarter, over a drink,  to decide on the latest awards. It is fun and lighthearted, but genuinely aims to rewards people who help small business grow and develop. There are many people, websites and companies who over the years have helped us, sometimes in small seemingly inconsequential ways, that we would like to reward.

Often in a small business the issues come in the category of ‘things I just don’t know, and don’t even know how to ask the questions’. Here the Internet is invaluable. Ask Google is a mantra in our company and we really value those people who take the time to put their expertise and advice online. Thank you all.

It started in Autumn 2010, with the first awards,to small number of  web sites that we felt met the criteria for all future recipients:

1. Supported Small Business

2. Freely gave Help, Advice or Inspiration to Small Businesses

3. Has a positive outlook and an uplifting view on the world of business

4. Had helped at least one small business to take a step forward and grow.

There is enough negativity around at all times for any small businessman, so we thought the awards should reflect our view that even if life is tough, it feels better when you have a positive outlook.

Thank you to all the recipients and award winenrs for 2010, and in the next few years, we hope to add many more winners.

  1. Dear Sirs,
What a fantastic idea! To recognise the efforts and often kindness of our virtual colleagues is pretty special… I too hope some day to be a winner of your award. I too freely give advice online, at small networking events and I work a certain number of hours each month for a small group of charities.
I don’t honestly think I would be the success I am today were it not for the generousity of others to share their knowledge… thank you.

  2. This is a great idea and we wish you much success!
